✦ Synopsis
BOOK REVIEWS
studies offer on the evolution of the hydrosphere over the Earth's history. The final twenty-five pages are devoted to chemical differentiation during formation of the planets.
The quality of the translation is generally acceptable although there are occasional lapses, such as 'gelium-argonium method of dating' (page 129). This book will serve not so much as an introductory text to isotope hydrology but rather as an additional source of reference for isotope hydrologists. Its value lies in its comprehensive coverage of the hydrosphere-atmosphere, fresh water, and oceanand also in the review of Russian literature encompassed in the bibliography. It will find a place on the bookshelves of isotope hydrologists alongside other recently published reference books in this area of science. The publishers are to be congratulated on a generally good standard of presentation with few significant typographic errors.
