A b s t r a c t . It is shown thatwithin the framework of an idealized model with taking into account backscattering at density fluctuationsthere is a number NK of atoms such that for an atomic number N 9 N , forward-backward independence will be found while N < NK leads to synchronized superfluorescence pulses in both directions.
