โœฆ Synopsis

Formulas for the dielectric constant and dissipation factor of a dielectric mixture of many components have been derived assuming (I) that the dipoles can point only in two definite directions, along and opposite to the directions of the applied field, and (2) that the dipole is a highly anisotropic body having a needle shape. The formula for the dielectric constant is applied to calculate the dielectric constant of cellulose a t any sheet density. The application of the Clausius-Mosotti relation for the dielectric constantdensity relation is discussed.

The constant y in the strengthened Cauchy-Buniakowski-Schwarz (C.B.S.) inequality plays a crucial role in the convergence rate of multilevel iterative methods as well as in the efficiency of a posteriori error estimators, that is in the framework of finite element approximations of S.P.D. problems.
