Singk+crystal films of gold and palladium which were in cnnt'act. with one another and in parailel orient.ation were heat, treat)ed to prom&e diffusion bet.ween them. Elechron micrographs of these crystals revealed grains that were formed during diffusion. Outside these grains almost all of the difference bat ween t,hs lat,tice parameters of the upper and lower film surfaces was accommodated by edge dislocations. Inside the grains it, was accommodated by latt'ioe curvature. Assaoiat.ed with these grains were twins of two t,ypes. Some of them were deformation twins and grew by the migration of twinning dislocations. Others were similar to the twins that are somet.imes present, aft.er the annealing of face-cent,ered cubic metals. Quelques-unes sent des macles de d&formation et, eroissent par migration de dislocations de ma&s.

D'autres sent. semblttbles aux ma&s que l'on trouve parfois apr& le recuit de m@t,aux cubiques B faces cent&es.
