Based on comparisons of the low temperature specific heat and susceptibility of single phase UPt4M~, where M = Auo.sPto.5, Auo.TAgo.3,/~Uo..~Ago.5, Auo.TCuo.3, and Auo.sCuo.5, it is found that the formation of large m* in this system is essentially just as dependent on subtle differences of the electronic properties of Au and Ag as on lattice parameter and Pt versus Au differences.
