✦ Synopsis

Plating is a method of formation of metallic solids at around room temperature. This means the formation of solids under highly supercooled conditions. Amorphous and various metastable phases are formed by the plating method. In this paper, the mechanism of formation of metallic solid, and the formation of the amorphous and other metastable phases in various plated alloys, are discussed in relation to the thermal equilibrium diagram.
