Studies have been made of the reorganization of carbon deposited on cobalt, nickel and iron. Well oriented films of graphite can be prepared by dissolving amorphous carbon in cobalt and nickel at high temperatures, the film being produced by precipitation on cooling. Carbidic intermediates do not ap
