Abstr anthracene chars heat treated between 500 and 1200Β°C is developped and applied to d.c. electrical conductivity, paramagnetic susceptibility and apparent density. An inhomogeneous process for the carbonization is proposed, in agreement with recent results on the structure of these chars. acts 3

β¦ Synopsis
The effects of heat-treatment at lower temperature on the formation of carbonaceous mesophase were studied. Heat-treatments of QS pitch below 340Β°C and of KF asphalt below 370Β°C lead to the formation of mesophase spherules having a different structure from those found previously. For QS pitch, the lowest temperature of mesophase formation was 290Β°C but more than one month was required for heat-treatment. The structure of the fourth-type spherule is proposed from the microscopic observations and its orientational behavior in a magnetic field. The structure of this type is very similar to that of the Brooks-Taylor-type one, and it is believed that the fourth-type spherule is a meta-stable phase of the Brooks-Taylor-type one.

The formation of ettringite was investigated by isothermal calorimetry over the range of temperature from 50 to 70Β°C. Ettringite was formed using three sources of alumina: tricalcium aluminate, high alumina cement and calcium aluminate sulfate. In accord with a diffusionally controlled reaction mech
Methylmercury cysteine (MeHg-cysteine) uptake by rat erythrocytes (RBC) was undertaken at 5 and 20Β°C. The effects of several amino acids, their derivatives, ATP, Na+, Mgz+ and membrane potential on MeHg-cysteine uptake were examined. The results showed that MeHg-cysteine uptake was temperaturedepend
