โฆ Synopsis
THE magnetoresistance of a number of electrical resistance strain gauges has been investigated between 4.2 and 300 ยฐ K. Gauges made from nickel~opper alloy wire show a large magnetoresistance which increases with decreasing temperature. Magnetoresistance is smallest in gauges whose wire is made from alloys of composition nickel-chromium plus additions. For all types of wire strain gauges studied the magnetoresistance varies in magnitude from one gauge to another; this variation persists between gauges of the same type even when made from the same reel of wire.
