Abstract

Foreign direct investment (FDI) has been a key driver of economic growth, globalization of business, and the expansion of international trade. And in today's age of the Internet and globalization, the impact of FDI and foreign‐invested enterprises (FIEs) on a hosting country's economy will be more profound than it was in the twentieth century.

Given all that, what roles are FIEs playing in the economy of the world's most populous country‐China? And what are the implications for investors? Β© 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
