Abstract
Stereotaxically placed electrolytic lesions were made in six areas of the forebrain of killifish, Fundulus heteroclitus. Lesioned fish were tested for their ability to respond to intraperitoneal injections of hog posterior pituitary suspension or synthetic arginine vasotocin, administered at doses that ensured occurrence of the spawning reflex response in unoperated controls. Only lesions that destroyed a major part of the nucleus preopticus severely impaired, or abolished, the spawning reflex response.
