โœฆ Synopsis

Drops formed at a tip which exhibited damped oscillatory behavior when re.leased were observed and frequencies compared well with the theory of Miller and Striven. The observed damping factors were considerably higher than predicted by the same theory, possibly because of the presence of trace contaminants or approximations made in the theory.

The dynamic behavior of a bubble or drop oscillating at the tip of a capillary immersed in a surfactant solution is considered. The pressure variation in the cell and the nonstationary flow in the capillary are taken into account. The amplitude- and phase-frequency characteristics of the system are

The effects of local variations in interfacial tension on the motion of drops in liquid-liquid systems are discussed. Experimental observations of the various types of motion which are caused by the addition of solute to the dispersed phase are described. Approximate models of the drop motion are us
