Nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes and fullerenes offer the means to create new mechanical devices operating at the nanoscale. Such devices include oscillators constructed from an inner carbon nanotube sliding inside another carbon nanotube. The resultant oscillatory frequency is found to be in
