Co2+, Ni'+, U022+, 250 ppm. of silver, IOO p.p.m. of iodide, and 5 p.p.m. of copper(I1) and bicafbonate could be tolerated. Phosphate, fluoride, citrate and oxalate interfered at all levels. Tln~s 2,4-dil~ydroxyacctopllcnone provides a selective determination of iron(III). Since the absorbance values of the complex are practically constant in the spectral range 460-480 nm, the method is suitable for use with simple filter photometers.
