✦ Synopsis

As is typical in an election year, federal regulatory agencies have kept a low profile and have not proposed or enacted many new regulations or issued many new policy statements. That said, with the election decided, it is likely that there will be an increase in regulatory action in the coming years. President Bush has indicated that the administration will be addressing many workplace issues in the next four years. These issues range from tax reform to social security reform to amending the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). While most other agencies have been quiet, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has announced new initiatives and has issued several fact sheets, and the FTC has issued regulations closing the book on one of the most controversial aspects of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
