✦ Synopsis
The atomic structure at (110) mirror twin boundaries and [100] 90 ° rotation twin boundaries Was determined by high resolution electron microsc()py. The lattice of Cu atoms continues without interruption across these twin boundaries. The (110) mirror twin boundary is almost always parallel to (110) and usually the [100] 90 ° rotation twin boundary is perpendicular to the a-or the b-axis. Edge dislocations occur at regular intervals if the a-axis proceeds as a c-axis over the latter type of grain boundary. New calculations for the elementary pinning force of a planar defect as a function of temperature and magnetic field are presented.
