In this paper, we summarize two processing approaches which have been used to produce pinning centers in melt-textured YBCO resulting in the enhancement of current density. The first approach is the addition of nonsuperconducting inclusions such as Y2BaCuO5, and the second is high temperature mechan

Enhancement of critical current density

The critical current density in melt-textured samples obtained by the powder melting process was determined from magnetization measurements. Linear dependence between the width of the hysteresis loop and sample size was observed for both unirradiated and irradiated samples. This indicates that the c
