โฆ Synopsis
Experimental investigations of the stability behaviour of Nb Ti filamentary superconducting composites in a time-varying external magnetic field are reported. The magnetization due to the induced interfilamentary screening currents shows flux jumps. The influence of this sort of flux jump on dH/dt and on the twist rate has been measured, together with the influence exerted by the presence of a thin high-resistivity CuNi sheath surrounding the filaments.

In the concentric arrangement of a superconducting tube and a high-conductivity aluminium cylinder, the magnetic flux variation arising from flux jumps occurred only within the superconducting tube itself, whereas the magnetic flux in the normal metal was almost completely frozen during the flux jum
At relatively high ampfitudes and variation rates of a transverse external field, the saturated zone may occupy a considerable part or the entire space of the composite. Differential equations have been derived which enable one to calculate the time dependence of the magnetic moment of screening cur
