Note on Disk Electrophoresis Technique
Disk electrophoresis, a new technique for separating proteinaceous materials, was recently described by Ornstein (1). One of the steps in preparing disks is the removal of the polyacrylamide gel from its glassholding tube following electrophoresis and prior to staining. This procedure is time consuming and often results in broken or damaged gel cylinders. We have found that this step can be carried out successfully in a rapid and simple method by using the following process:
