โฆ Synopsis
Fluorine, supplied ss potassium fluoride, is essential for optimal growth in rats which are fed highly purified amino acid diets and kept in trace element controlled isolators_ It also improves the deposition of incisor pigment. Supplements of 1, 2.5. and 7.5 ppm of fluorine to the basal diet A enhanced growth rates by 17.30.8, and 27_9%_ On diet B, a mod&x&ion of A containing 500 ppm of silicon, 20.5% growth responses were obsefved with 2.5 ppm of fluorine. The amounts of fluorine required for growth and development are physiological. They are normally found in foods and feeds. Fluorine levels in human diets are similar to those which maintain growth in the rat.
