✦ Synopsis

Sex-chromosomes in a male and a female clone of M. dioieum were studied by fluorescent staining with quinacrine-mustard. A dark band was found in the middle of the long arm of one X-chromosome in the female, In the other X-chromosome no band was visible, but a slightly enhanced fluorescence was shown in the same region. In the Y-chromosome a more intense fluorescence was found on both ends of the chromosome and a slight overall difference between the arms.

The relation between fluorescence pattern and heterochromatin is discussed.
