This paper presents the preparation and photoluminescence characteristics of a new series of Nd'+-doped InF, based glass systems of the following compositions: 48 InF,-24 BaF,-7 A1F3-20 RF-l NdF, where RF = LiF, NaF and KF. Besides our understanding of the optical properties, the relevant physical

A nontrivial temperature behaviour of the homogeneous linewidth of Eu'+doped silicate glass is analyzed. It is shown that this nontrivial temperature dependence, ranging over 0.4-500 K, can be due to the quadratic interaction with low-frequency excitations of different types existing in glasses.
