Rotational contours of the (2+ 1) REMPI spectra of iodine due to resonance excitation to the [ ZlIs,z]c5d; lg Rydberg state have been recorded at room temperature. Rotational parameters, &, were estimated from the band-head structure and used to derive the band origin by spectral simulations. T.= 59

β¦ Synopsis
Absorption and lluorcscence excitation spectra of I, have hen recorded in the region 1100-2100 A using synchrotron radiation. The strongest tluorrscc~-~e is excited in rhs region 1730-2000 A and is associated with the D(Oz-) ion-pair state: fluorescence in the region 1320-1500 A is assigned in part to excited atoms formed by predissociation of Rydherg SlBlcs.
