β¦ Synopsis
Time-resolved fluorescence spectra and fluorescence rise as well as decay curves of poly(N-vinylcarbazole) in tetrahydrofuran solution were measured by using a time-correlated single-photon counting technique with picosecond time resolution. Monomeric structured fluorescence was directly detected for the first time in the ten picosecond time range. The difference in tacticity was reflected in time-resolved fluorescence spectra and fluorescence rise as well as decay curves monitored at 350 nm (monomer fluorescence), 380 nm (partial overlap excimer fluorescence) and 475 nm (sandwich excimer fluorescence). Excimer dynamics is determined by syndiotactic and isotactic sequences of the polymer.
