A new two-photon absorption compound, 2-{4-[(dicyanomethylidene-5,5-dimethylcyclohexl)vinyl]phenyl}imidazo[4,5f][1,10]phenanthroline (DDVPIP), was synthesized and characterized. The one-photon excited fluorescence (OPEF) and twophoton excited fluorescence (TPEF) of DDVPIP are sensitive to the acid/b

β¦ Synopsis
Chromatographic surfaces are investigated by means of fluorescent probes (aza-aromatic compounds and anthroic acids). From absorption and fluorescence spectra the acid-base equilibria and types of binding at the interfaces are determined. The different surface acidities are given in terms of pH equivalents, which cover a range of more than three ApH units. The rotational mobility of probe molecules on reversed phase materials is measured to get a more detailed understanding of the chromatographic separation mechanism. The rotational correlation time is calculated from fluorescence anisotropy and decay time measurements.

## Abstract The molecular interaction of oleic acid in different base oils at Elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) contact was investigated by means of __inβsitu__ observation with microβFourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR). Moreover, the effect of hydrostatic pressure was confirmed using
Surface pressure-area (R-A) isotherms of 12-( 1-pyrenyl)dodecanoic acid (PDA), alone, and in mixed films with eicosanol, on pure water and basic subphases, were measured concomitantly with the emission spectra of the film at various stages of compression. On a pure water subphase certain portions of
