Fluorescence and scintillation properties of LuAlO3:Ce crystal

✦ Synopsis

Emission, excitation and X-ray excited spectra together with fluorescence and scintillation decays of Ce3+-doped LUAIO, single crystals are presented. The results have shown that LuAlO,:Ce could be a fast (T= 17 ns) and efficient scintiilator. Comparison of the X-ray excited spectra of LuAIO,:Ce and BGO crystals resulted in an estimate of the light yield of LuAlO, of about 10000 photons/MeV for a Ce3+ concentration of about 0.01 at% in the LuAlO, crystal matrix.
