✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A homologue of fluorescein and a number of its derivatives have been prepared by the condensation of 2‐mcthylrcsorcinol with phthalic and substituted phthalic anhydrides. Bromination and iodination of 4 :5‐dimcthylfluorcsccin have given compounds corresponding to the dyes eosin and crythrosin.
