✦ Synopsis


To conserve oil an alternative start-up procedure for the fluidized-bed combustor has been established which uses charcoal. The elutriated carbon loss has been measured for different grades of coal, and the variation of carbon loss with fluidization velocity is also repot-ted. The results could be useful in the design of fluidized-bed combustion systems.
