✦ Synopsis

The connection between classical and quantum dynamics in the semiclassical limit is used to interpret the behaviour of matrix element fluctuations and correlations between matrix elements and eigenvalues in chaotic systems. An extension of the spectral rigidity to matrix element weighted densities is proposed. The results are illustrated for hydrogen in a magnetic field.
