Various processes such as membrana fusion, collapse of giant vesicles, rupture of membranes, clustering, spinodal decomposition in mixtures and phase transitions in solutions of lipids and surfactants are all accompanied by changes in the topology of a system. Recently the Euler characteristic has.been applied for direct monitoring of these changes.
