β¦ Synopsis
A flow-m]ectlon method IS described for the determmation of acetammophen (paracetamol) &near range 0 8-100 pg ml-') based on Its oxldatlon with 2-mdylbenzoate m acid medium to produce a yellow-orange compound, believed to be N-acetyl-1,4-benzoqumonemune, which IS momtored at 445 nm The sample throughput IS 360 h-' The preclslon (R S D ) of determmatlon was 0 5-Z% The method was apphed to the detemunatlon of acetammophen m drug formulations, and evaluated by analyzing spiked sample solutions, a mean recovery of 100 6% (range 96 3-105 2%) being obtamed No interference was observed from the common exclplents of drugs and other active substances, e g , chpyrone, acetylsahcyhc acid, sahcylamlde and oxyphenbutazone The possible apphcatlon of the proposed method m content uniformity test and drug dlssolutlon studies IS Indicated Comparison of the present method with a hqmd chromatograpluc method for acetammophen determmatlon gave a mean Mference of 1 2% (range 0 4-2 4%)
