A flow-mjectlon system 1s described for the selectwe determination of arsemdII0 and arsenic(V) (0 OS-20 ng) m a NO-~1 sample volume by hydnde generation and atomic absorption spectrometry An electncally heated alummmm column was used to generate the arsme m an alkaline medium Recoveries averaged 97-99% for arsemc(III) and 95-98% for arsendV) mth relative standard devlatlons of less than 4 3% m each Instance The detectlon bmlt was 0 25 kg 1-l (25 pg) of aFsenlc m both instances Thus method was relatively free from Interferences and was applied successfully to the determmatlon of arsemc(III) and arsenic(V) m trout fishery water samples The data obtamed were compared wth those produced by a bydndc generation-cold trappmg atomic absorption spectrometnc detection method, using sodium tetrahydroborate(II1) m hydrochlonc acid The results obtamed by both methods were m close agreement, wlthm 96-102%
