β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
A fluorescent staining procedure based on pyronin Y is described. The technique has been used to stain RNA in human reticulocytes for subsequent flow analysis and sorting. Histograms of fluorescence values of mature red blood cells and reticulocytes obtained by flow cytometry of stained blood samples, contain more information than offered by conventional methods for counting reticulocytes. Analysis of the fluorescence histograms provides new descriptive parameters of the reticulocyte population. The potential importance of this method in experimental and routine hematology is illustrated for a number of clinical cases.

## Abstract ## Background Phagosomal pH is thought to play an important role in the antimicrobial activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs). In this study, we set up a method for a rapid and accurate measurement of phagosomal pH in PMNs with the use of __Candida albicans__ doubly labeled wit
Epitope tagging of expressed proteins is a versatile tool for the detection and purification of the proteins. This approach has been used in protein-protein interaction studies, protein localization, and immunoprecipitation. Among the most popular tag systems is the FLAG epitope tag, which is recogn
A general method for RNA measurement, based on chemical labeling of RNA with digoxigenin (without retrotranscription), has been established. Labeled RNA is hybridized with nylon membranes containing spot blots of PCR-amplified gene fragments and the fluorescence detection is mediated via specific an
