β¦ Synopsis
Abstraet--ln this paper, we present an analysis and numerical calculations on the propagation of elastic guided waves in composite plates composed of periodic layers. The guided waves are constructed by superposing obliquely traveling Floquet partial plane wave solutions in such a way that they satisfy a standing wave resonance condition through the thickness of the periodic composite. We demonstrate that transverse resonance can be established only in the Floquet passbands of the periodic composite. The predicted phenomena observed is consistent with our previous experimental observations in the Lamb wave case for an aluminum/aramid-epoxy composite (
