The flavor singlet axial and tensor charges of the nucleon are calculated in lattice QCD. We find AE = Au + Ad+ As = +0.638(54) --0.347(46) --0.109(30) = +0.18(10) for the axial charge and 5E = 5u + 5d + 5s = +0.839(60) -0.231(55) -0.046(34) = +0.562(88) for the tensor charge.
