✦ Synopsis

The dependence of insulator surface strength on temperature in the range of 290 -6 K in a vacuum is presented. The insulator surface strength was found to increase in the range of liquid nitrogen and liquid helium temperatures compared with the flashover voltage measurements at ambient temperatures.

Complex distributions of flashover voltage ware obtained and were plotted on Weibull probability paper. The effect seems to be the result of the increase in insulator temperature near the triple junction.

A suitable model of the correlation between the insulator flashover voltage and its temperature was proposed.
