We report an experimental study of a symmetrically-pumped distributed feed-back (DFB) Erbium-doped fiber laser (EFL) with a tunable phase shift induced in the center of the laser cavity. The tunable phase shift is produced using a magnetostrictive transducer. We demonstrate that lasing is observed i
