✦ Synopsis

The long time performance of an isothermal fixed bed reactor undergoing catalyst poisoning is theoretically anatyzed using the dispersion model. First order reaction with dth order deactivation is assumed and the model eauations are solved by matched asymptotic expansions for large Peclet number. Simple closed-form solutions, uniformly valid in time;are obtained.-_ IhTRODW!TlON

The poisoning kinetics of thiophene on Ni-kieselguhr catalysts and the deactivation behavior of nonisothermal fixed bed reactors have been studied experimentally using benzene hydrogenation as a model exothermic reaction. The time dependent axial temperature profiles in the reactors were measured an

Experiments have been carried out in an industrial scale pilot plant reactor and a microreactor to investigate the reversible/irreversible deactivation of a V20~/Ti02 catalyst used for the partial oxidation of o-xylene to phthalic anhydride. The experimental results indicate that unless the catalyst
