โœฆ Synopsis

Kazi, A. and Knill, J. L., 1973.

Fissuring in glacial lake clays and tills on the Norfolk coast, United Kingdom. Eng. Geol., 7: 35-48.

The orientation and origin of fissure systems developed in stiff, over-consolidated glacial lake clays from two locahues are described. The attitudes of the fissures are geometrically related to the stress conditions associated with glacial loading and the subsequent removal of overburden. Laboratory tests demonstrate that the presence of fissures have a significant influence on the deformability, permeability and strength characteristics of such clays.
