✦ Synopsis

The total mean biomass and production of fish populations were estimated at 80-116 kg ha-' and 135-164 kg ha-' yrl, respectively, at two sites of a large alluvial river (the Warta River, Poland). In comparison with data for two large, temperate zone rivers (Thames, Pilica) the present values are intermediate, as is the degree of eutrophication in the rivers' water.
