โฆ Synopsis
A general approach to the synthesis of all known strobilurins -a class of natural products -is outlined with strobilurin B as an example.
Strobilurin A (1) was first isolated in 1969 under the name of mucidin by Musilek and co-workers 1) from the fungus Oudemansiella mucida. The structure as well as a total synthesis of this compound was disclosed in a patent by the same authors 2) . Independently, Anke, Steglich and co-workers discovered strobilurin A (1) and B (2) in a culture of Strobilurinus tenacellus 3) . The
