Mitsubishi, Honjo to develop fullerenes for fuel cells In japan, Mitsubishi Corporation and battery materials maker Honjo Chemical Corporation are setting up a joint company to develop fullerene materials for fuel cells that can operate in both hot and cold environments, according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
The new company will use fullerenes to develop an electrolyte membrane and electrodes for a PEM fuel cell that can operate at temperatures from 120Β°C down to -40Β°C. Most PEM fuel cells only operate efficiently in a narrow temperature range.
