✦ Synopsis

First results on charm production in √ s = 7 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. The reconstruction method for D mesons is described and results for D * , D ± and Ds are presented using 1.4 nb -1 of integrated luminosity collected from March until May 2010.
