✦ Synopsis


A numerical method for prediction of stresses and displacements in thermo-elastic material is presented using Finite Volume multigrid technique. The governing equations for heat transport and momentum balance are expressed by terms of temperature and displacements. The corresponding constitutive law for the stress-strain correlation is treated for the anisotropic case. As a result of the finite volume discretixation and an iterative solving procedure, the temperature, displacement and stress fields are obtained. In order to accelerate the solution procedure on retined grids, a multigrid technique was implemented and its efficiency is shown. Analytically available solutions of three axisymmetric test cases are compared with the numerical results and good agreement was achieved.'
