TIw com, entional ,finite strip analysis qf plates, as derelopcd b t' Cheun~,, eonsiderr bending defi~rrnations onlt', and i.r there[bre inapplicable to the analysis of plates in which transveJ:re shear deformations are importanl. Herewith ajinite ,vtrip formulation which invoh,e.r shear is &~:eloped. Numerical e.vamples are t/wn presented which demonstrate the applicabilit.t' o[" the .fi)rmulation to the analysis qf thin, thick and sandwich plates.

Shear theory and the eigenfunction method are used to analyze the forced motion of a plate-strip of linearly varying thickness. A plate clamped at both edges and a cantilever plate subjected to uniformly distributed and concentrated impulsive loads are analyzed as example problems. Numerical results
