✦ Synopsis

This paper is concerned with the re"ned numerical techniques for the seismic analysis as well as the free vibration analysis of liquid-storage tanks. In the numerical formulation of accurate added-mass matrix, for the construction of uncoupled-separated structural dynamic system, the liquid free-surface #uctuation is taken into consideration. In order to resolve the non-linearity and non-orthonormality of resulting frequency-dependent added-mass matrices and natural modes, we propose a rapid convergent iterative numerical scheme for computing added-mass matrices, as well as a modi"ed numerical procedure for the seismic analysis. Through the numerical experiments with a closed-type tank, excited by a random horizontal earthquake wave, we compare the numerical results by the proposed re"ned numerical techniques with those by the classical approaches, together with the detailed investigation of the proposed numerical scheme.

## Abstract The paper develops an efficient free‐vibration analysis procedure of two‐dimensional structures. This is achieved by employing a discretization technique based on a recently developed concept of finite dynamic elements, involving higher order dynamic correction terms in the associated s

A simplified technique for the dynamic analysis of geometrically nonlinear plate structures is developed. This paper provides a finite element methodology (FEM) for the solution of several one-dimensional inverse solidification problems. In particular two design related problems will be addressed. The first one uses an inverse technique to calculate the boundary heat flux history that will achieve a spe
