โฆ Synopsis
A two-dimensional non-linear heat transfer model is presented to describe the transient temperature distribution in a cylindrical grain bin. In this model, the e!ects on grain temperatures of solar radiation, ambient air temperature and convection were simulated and complicated mixed boundary conditions on the grain surface and around the bin wall were considered during the simulation. The model was veri"ed by experiments conducted in a weathered galvanized steel bin storing rice and was used to analyse the temperature distribution in the bin. The results show that the predicted temperatures agreed well with the measured ones. This study can be used as a tool for the optimum design of storage bins.
