โœฆ Synopsis

It is known that for the numerical approximation of Oldroyd's B model for viscoelastic ยฏuid ยฏows some upwinding is needed for the convection of the extra-stress tensor. In this paper we make the numerical analysis of such an approximation with upwinding by the method of characteristics in a ยฎnite element context. The approximate stress, velocity, and pressure are, respectively, P 1 discontinuous, P 2 continuous, and P 1 continuous. We suppose that the continuous problem admits a suciently smooth and suciently small solution. We show by a ยฎxed point method that the approximate problem has a solution and an error bound is given.

We present a theoretical study of a creeping, steady-state, isothermal flow of a viscoelastic fluid obeying an Oldroyd-type constitutive law with slip boundary condition. The slip boundary condition is appropriate for problems that involve free boundaries and other examples where the usual no-slip c

We propose and analyze a two-level method of discretizing the equations of steady-state flow of a viscoelastic fluid obeying an Oldroyd-type constitutive equation with no-slip boundary condition. The two-level algorithm consists of solving a small non-linear system of equations on the coarse mesh a

In this paper the problem of numerical approximation of non-Newtonian fluid flow with free surface is considered. Namely, the flow of fresh concrete is addressed. Industrial mixtures often behaves like non-Newtonian fluids exhibiting a yield stress that needs to be overcome for the flow to take plac
