β¦ Synopsis
The present study analyzes interface delamination behavior in the thermal barrier coating (TBC)/substrate system during a barb pullout test when the delamination crack is short. With the use of finite element analysis, strain energy release rates and phase angles of the delamination crack are obtained for various specimen dimensions, elastic properties and delamination lengths. These results are useful for designing the geometry of the barb test to obtain various phase angles.
