Abstract
In this paper we employ finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) simulations to study the resonant modes in rectangular dielectric resonators (DRs). Three‐dimensional field patterns for these modes are derived, and the modes are represented by combinations of equivalent electric and magnetic dipoles. The possibility of exciting TM‐type modes in rectangular DRs is demonstrated. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
